בסוף חלק א' ובסוף חלק ב' מביא ישראל לנדא שירים מאת אבן גבירול. השיר הראשון הוא "שיר על מצות לא תעשה לר' שלמה בן גבירול" (חלק א', עמ' מז/2). בפתח השיר בחלק ב' צוין: "מצות עשה הנאמרים בשיר השירים אשר לשלמה מהמשורר הגדול המפורסים [כך] מו"ה שלמה בן גבירול ז"ל אשר שמו נודע אצלינו בפיוטים והשיר הזה אומרים הספרדים בחג השבועות" (חלק ב', עמ' עא/2).

לפי קסטנברג-גלדשטיין, אחת ממגמותיו של לנדא היא להראות, היכן שניתן: daß die humanen und moralischen Tendenzen des 18. Jahrhunderts schon im biblischen und gewiß im talmudischen Judentum lebendig waren. לשם כך, הוא מסתמך, בין היתר, על וייזל (כך בעמ' נא/2 - נב/1). זאת ועוד, לנדא משתדל גם: Seine Leser von der in der traditionellen Gesellschaft legitimen Auffassung der Nichtjuden als anderen und minderwertigen Menschen abzubringen und ihnen statt dessen die Auffassung vom Christen als ''Nebenmenschen'' einzuflößen. (חלק ב', עמ' נא/2). לצד ערכים חדשים מתקופת הנאורות, מדגיש לנדא ללא הרף את נאמנותו לתורה וחוזר שוב ושוב על החשיבות שבקיום המצוות.

(קסטנברג-גלדשטיין, היהודים בארצות בוהמיה, עמ' 162 והלאה. בעמ' 164 מצביעה קסטנברג-גלדשטיין על הקושי במתן תווית לשפה בה השתמש לנדאו ומציעה לכנותה

לנדא מציין כי מבוקשו "לאסוף מצוות ה' בלשון אשכנזי להעתיקם. למען דעת כל עמי הארץ... ואמרתי אם יהיה ה' עמדי ויתן תמים דרכי אפלס נתיב מצוות בלשון אשכנזי לקטני שבטי ישראל אנשים כערכי... וזה הספר כתבתי בניב שפתי ובמלת לשוני בלשון אשר ידבר ההמוני לא לפני סופרי זמננו דוברי צחצחות לשון למודים, פלג לשונם בלשון עבר ובלשון אשכנזי חכם..." (בהקדמה)

יחד עם זאת, ישנה גם פניה לקורא המלומד. לפי קסטנברג-גלדשטיין, הערות שנכתבו בעברית ע"י המחבר היו מיועדים בדיוק לקהל קוראים זה.
